That the day may be truly sanctified, and that the hours themselves may be recited with spiritual advantage, it is best that each of them be prayed at a time which most closely corresponds with its true canonical time.

I remember clergy telling me stories of other priests who would make praying the Hours an every-48-hours event, praying all the liturgies of one day before midnight and all the liturgies of the next just after it. The council reminds us this method is not a path to holiness or spiritual advantage.
