We may have discussed this point before, but ’tis the season, as they say. My parish has long held two Masses for First Communions: separate ones for the school children (about seventy this year) and the school of religion (about seven or eight, I think).
If you dare weather potential scorn from parents and catechists, sit in the purple chair and make some rulings:
Separate celebrations for your parish school kids and non-school 2nd graders?
Big First Communion Masses or not?
If Big, would you celebrate them on Sunday? Or perhaps on Saturday, or even another day?
If not, would you do them at regular parish Sunday Masses?
Does the size of the parish influence your decision?
