Money Mismanagement in Chicago

dotCommonweal linked to this report in the Sun Times on a parish business manager claiming to be fired for blowing the whistle on a corrupt pastor. Another public scandal over which the Church will come off looking very badly.

Sex, money, and a wrongful termination suit aren’t looking too good on Cardinal George’s Chicago plate these days. I hope the USCCB presidency and his Vox Clara commitments aren’t keeping him away from his first responsibility to his diocese too much. Anybody in Chicago or nearby there who can tell us something of the morale situation after this one hit the fan?

I had such high hopes for Cardinal George when he came to Chicago. Unfortunately, he hasn’t moved an inch with the administration of the archdiocese. The bureaucrats that ran things under his predecessor are all still there.

It has become obvious from the resignation of former schools chief Wolsonovich that he became frustrated with the archdiocese administration.

Let’s see if he has any interest in fixing this embarrassing problem. Somehow I doubt he will do a thing.

Lack of accountability in the Church rears its ugly head yet again…
