Score Another For The Bullies

I see the Golden Compass review has been yanked without explanation. Along with the crowing over the relatively poor gate for the film and decidedly mixed reviews from the secular press, it appears that Bill Donohue and his internet minions have scored one for the Culture of Triumph.

I applaud your hard-won victory, brother and sister Catholics. I will enjoy instead this lovely and thoughtful birthday present from my wife and daughter and will ask you, the USCCB, and others to keep your cyberpaws off it.

Of course you know that Apollo was all really a hoax don’t you and it was all filmed from some dingy desert here on Earth ;-)

I guess I thought what was to be lamented here was how the USCCB’s film office allowed itself to get snookered into being an advertising prop and then is so unaccountable to its erswhile audience that it cannot openly discuss that…rather than a victory for the Culture of Triumph, it seems ultimately to be triumph of Culture of Chancery* Folk Unnaccountability.

    * The USCCB’s bureaucracy being the biggest chancery of them all in the US.

The review got yanked. It should have been re-issued in a corrected state. After the Brokeback Mountain review debacle, the USCCB ought to stay out of the movie review business. Leave it to guys like Steven Greydanus at decentfilms.com.
