On the way to middle school (today is the first day) I commented to my daughter that she’s now halfway to college. She went to an all-day pre-K, then kindergarten, first grade, second, third, fourth, and fifth–that’s seven years. Seven school years to go: sixth, seventh, eighth, and four years of high school. In fact, after today, she’ll be more than halfway there.
“Dad!” came the warning cry from the back seat.
“Sometimes you can be a real pill,” said my wife.
Just trying to be a dutiful middle school parent.
