Gauntlet

Professor Doug Kmiec throws it down at Commonweal. Mostly he has the measure of the blogosphere, but this piece is akin to taking a power drill to a beehive. It will convince none of the buzzers and it gives me an excellent reason to cease from surfing conservative sites for, say, the next month or so. By which time it will be almost Lent and time to give it all up anyway.

For the beehive metaphor, I can’t imagine saying to myself “gosh, that beehive got mad when I threw a rock at it. I’d better throw another to teach them all a lesson!”

I agree the reaction to Kmiec was way overblown. But perhaps he should just ignore the conservative blogosphere rather than give them reason to think their blogging is important outside of a few like-minded individuals.

I should add, lest I throw some rocks myself, that the things said on the conservative blogosphere, and this blog, are important. They just don’t matter as much as some (not going to name letters) would like to pretend. Sorry, but that’s just how it is – the world does not shift everytime a picture of a fiddleback is posted.

    Doug who?

    Just kidding. :)

The professor was the balm on appropriately prickling Catholic consciences.

He needs to re-read the section on “material cooperation with evil”.
