Seeing Pink

It appears there will be no move to oust ND from Catholicism. Catholic Republicans can fester on another pink slip avoided, either for the university or its president. L’OR continues in defiance of Republicans, too. Clearly, the Vatican eurojournalists don’t know on what side their bread is buttered by not kowtowing to interests from a political party that got thrashed on Iraq, Katrina, torture, and the economy.

Will somebody please give the GOP a cocktail of some kind. It’s not a living entity, so I think euthanasia would be justified, just so somebody competent can be a foil–if not a real rival–for the other party. I may dislike the two-party system, but c’mon: we all concede a one party affair is even more boring.

I’ve proposed that the Republican party needs to split into multiple third parties based on interest. That’s quite possibly the only way to interrupt the Democratic monopoly on power.

No, that would ensure its continuance. While I like a viable two-party system, I hope the Democratic Party holds power until the current crop of Republicans die or retire and decent human beings start running as Republicans. Right now there aren’t very many of them, and the ones who do run are defeated by the evil (yes, I mean “evil”) and un-American right-wingers who comprise the party’s base. I used to believe that voting Republican could be a reasonable choice. Now I believe it’s a sin.
