One of the way-cool things about my current parish is the library. It’s just outside the second floor suite of offices, where I work. I love love love having Scripture commentaries, the Fathers of the Church series, periodicals, and everything close at hand.Above is the “panorama” view of the “stacks” from my cell phone, three images. On the left side is mostly religion and theology, Dewey Decimal 200′s. The middle shelf is reference. On the right, you see the side of the bookshelf that has 300-999. The tall shelf in the middle is fiction. The lower shelf holds new books. Anne, our librarian, has a nice acquisition budget for books. Staff members can recommend acquisitions. I donated a few items when I moved.
We get a nice selection of periodicals: the four Iowa diocesan news organs, and the usual Catholic suspects.
Right, is our librarian’s office.
One image I didn’t capture is the big picture window between the new book shelf and the periodical rack. It has two comfy chairs looking out to the ISU student union and the campus beyond.
Any other parishes out there with good libraries?
