Study The Chant, Don’t Sing

The “study” versions of MR3 English language chants are up at ICEL. Interesting the disclaimer:

It is important to note that the texts and music available on this site are for study rather than immediate liturgical use as definitive versions will not be available until the Bishops’ Conferences have determined a date for the implementation of the Missal.

I suppose their use at WYD and other locales is a special-event kind of thing. Surely people won’t be taking those settings home to use. Except in South African, of course.

Meanwhile, while surfing tonight, I stumbled across this item on Amazon. Pseudo-piano accompanied small chorus. Slow tempos. Dreadful like a lot of parish chant, only less holy-like.

Oh, that’s painful. I didn’t know that Elton wrote dirges. Bet he didn’t either!
