Maybe this is a few days late, but when our associate pastor asked about candles for this past Friday’s blessing of throats, I mentioned those specialized, pretzelized concoctions:

And my colleague said, no, just the plain two candles, please. We have those. What did your parish use? And if you were in the chair to make this call, what would you opt to use for the February 3rd blessing of throats?
Oh, dear, how hideous. Our parish uses full length beeswax tapers, of the size used on the reredos, tied together by wide red satin ribbon.
I guess someone will try a menorah someday…
We use a pair of the regular altar candles (12″), tied with red ribbon.
I agree with Liam, the twisted ones are hideous. They would also be harder to store without damage, and I assume they would have no other use.
