Playing around a bit on my lunch hour with some software and downloading capabilities. I thought I’d serenade (briefly) visitors with a string trio prelude I wrote as something of a composition exercise about fifteen years ago. I think I first put it together on Concertware for Windows.

Cool. :) If you’re looking for some nifty notation software that’s free, check out lilypond. The output is absolutely gorgeous.

Thanks, Jen. A few students work in Lilypond, and I’ve been impressed. It seems at least as good as Sibelius 3. I have Sib 5. Yet to upgrade to version 7. But Sib 5 does just about anything I need. The sound reproduction is a bit cheesy, but I don’t plan to use much of that.

Used to use Finale, but got tired of the bugs. Truth be told, I haven’t written a notated piece (or one in equal temperament) in awhile.
