NSA = Drunks

Catching up on yesterday’s religion news, I saw Tom Ehrich’s commentary at RNS equating those obnoxious late-night drunks with the American surveillance community. He takes a strong poke at Facebook and Google too.

This was self-centeredness run amok. It was complete unawareness of consequences, complete disregard for the rights of others. An essential freedom to act had become a license to violate.

I think that’s about right.

The bullies have taken our lunch money, promising to protect us from the worse meanies across the fence. Maybe Rev Ehrich is being generous here. It sounds like a protection racket.
