Jesus doesn’t seem to be faring well in my Christmas listening this week. One song out of eight today. I think it was some contemporary CW song. I didn’t catch the whole thing, but I heard “Jesus” and “prayer” clearly enough.
You know: I’m not bothered by the blizzard of secular Christmas/holiday music this year. I’m not sure why. On one hand, I’m glad not to be hearing the Christmas liturgical fare just yet.
I did catch Nat King Cole’s marvelous singing on that chestnut song. Maybe I’m getting old and sentimental, but I like that tune. There’s a wistfulness about it that makes a good complement to this season.
The only Christmas I’ve had off in 26 years of ministry was just before my wife and I got engaged. It was her trip to meet my parents. Good stories with that visit. Good memories. The funny ones I can’t really divulge here.
Any favorite Christmas romantic songs from the commentariat out there?
