AA 30: Lay Formation Outside the Home

According to AA30, you can’t get away from the parish community:

They should be so involved in the local community of the parish that they will acquire a consciousness of being living and active members of the people of God.

Priests have their role to play, focusing …

attention on the formation of the laity for the apostolate in their catechetics, their ministry of the word, their direction of souls, and in their other pastoral services.

So also

(s)chools, colleges, and other Catholic educational institutions also have the duty to develop a Catholic sense and apostolic activity in young persons.

Note the twofold aspect assigned to schools: not just a Catholic sense, but the outward activity that would be notable and expected of an adult Christian.

Lacking institutions, “parents, pastors of souls, and apostolic organizations” pick up the slack. Not parents alone. Not just Father. But lay organizations.
