We had an innovation today: a parent-led school Mass. One of the committee members suggested it, and it seemed to go really well. The good example of parents singing in a choir, being servers, and filling other roles is an important one for children–not just their own children– to see.
The NCEA-imposed theme was “Character, Compassion, and Values,” so we did our best with these readings:
Proverbs 24:3-5; Psalm 19; 1 Corinthians 9:24-25; John 10:27-29
The Proverbs passage seems especially appropriate for a school:
By wisdom is a house built, by understanding is it made firm;
And by knowledge are its rooms filled with every precious and pleasing possession.
A wise person is more powerful than a strong person,
and a person of knowledge is more powerful than a person of might.
