Sacrosanctum Concilium 80

More changes from Vatican II. It looks like the bishops really wanted to revise everything.

The rite for the consecration of virgins at present found in the Roman Pontifical is to be revised.

Moreover, a rite of religious profession and renewal of vows shall be drawn up in order to achieve greater unity, sobriety, and dignity. Apart from exceptions in particular law, this rite should be adopted by those who make their profession or renewal of vows within the Mass.

Any religious in the commentariat who might shed a little light on this?

Religious profession should preferably be made within the Mass.

It’s what they’ve been saying all through this section.

  1. Anne says:

Not talked about much is the fact that there is a a consecrated secularity. Most consecrated virgins live in community of a religious order of sisters. However, there are some women, dedicated to this lifestyle of prayer and love of the church, who choose to live and work in the secular society.
I believe part of the rite of consecration includes a promise to pray the Liturgy of the Hours daily.
