Effective Catechesis

According to Pope Benedict:

Educators of the faith, cannot run the risk of looking like some sort of clown, who is simply playing a role. (They) should be like the beloved disciple, who rested his head on the master’s heart and there learned how to think, speak and act.

It really should be obvious. That great line from the diaconate ordination came to mind:

Receive the Gospel of Christ,
whose herald you have become.
Believe what you read,
Teach what you believe, and
Practice what you teach.

It’s probably just as appropriate for parents as it is for catechists and deacons.
