REVUELTAS La Noche de los Mayas (The Night of the Mayas) CORIGLIANO The Red Violin: Chaconne for Violin and Orchestra CHAUSSON Poéme for Violin and Orchestra SAINT-SAENS Introduction and Rondo capriccioso for Violin and Orchestra RESPIGHI Pines of Rome Having performed with nearly all of the world’s leading orchestras and conductors, dazzling violinist Joshua Bell and his 300-year-old Stradivarius are welcomed by Michael Stern and the Symphony for the award-winning The Red Violin, works by Chausson, Saint Saëns and others. The concert event of the season! |
Joshua Bell performs three works with the symphony–that’s got to be wonderful. Anita loved the music from The Red Violin. Everything on this program interests me, especially Respighi’s tone poem, which I first heard performed thirty years ago at the Eastman School of Music.
