We got this alert from the chancery a few days ago.
As outlandish as it might strike you, it has come to our attention that some musicians/technicians are arriving at area churches asking to “see how your organ is playing.” Then, while ostensibly checking the condition of the instrument, these people somehow sabotage the organ and cause a gradual digital meltdown. Of course they leave a business card in their nefarious wake in hope of the unsuspecting parish staff person calling them to fix the problem caused by their own mischief. Please try to be sure that unannounced technicians are the reputable people you have customarily used to buy, install, and/or maintain your church organ. Be wary of strangers.
Any places other than Kansas City getting organ predators?
Sounds like some liberal Church musicians….
Or even traditionalists who prefer a cappella music, or the excision of computers from keyboard instruments.
