Day of the Phoenix

It’s today. The Phoenix Mars Lander will arrive near the Martian arctic circle in a few hours. Check out this great animation from NASA and the Astronomy Picture of the Day site.

    The Phoenix has landed. Looking at the first pictures from the phoenix, I find a Mars mission less enticing. Mars looks so very barren and lifeless, it seems it would be horribly depressing to be there for a solid 6 months.
