Off To The Symphony

It’s the end of the regular season for Michael Stern and the Kansas City Symphony. We’re off to see and hear this tonight:

Symphonie Fantastique
Fri, 6/6/2008 8:00 PM
Lyric Theatre
Michael Stern, conductor
Jonathan Biss, piano
BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 3
BERLIOZ Symphonie fantastique

Finale fantastique! Michael Stern brings the classical season to a dramatic conclusion with Beethoven’s regal third piano concerto, showcasing the exceptional talent of guest pianist Jonathan Biss. Symphonie fantastique – Hector Berlioz’ revolutionary musical embodiment of the supreme love of his life concludes a varied and inspired season.

I have the Berlioz on vinyl … somewhere. Haven’t listened to it in awhile. For the most part, the 19th century is musica incognita for me, classically speaking.

The KC Symphony is one of the big city perks we’ll miss in Iowa.
