Or call it B3: Benedict’s Bible Blog. CNS caught the suggestion from Agnes Kam Leng Lam, president of the Catholic Biblical Association of Hong Kong. Simple Bible reflections that connect small doses of the Bible to daily life of the laity.

To put it in a nutshell, I’d like to suggest to you Holy Father to start a multi-language blog to shepherd today’s world by scriptural verses, daily verses …

Remember, brief texts, Holy Father, and plentiful images, and this will be very attractive to the young generation and to today’s people.

CNS reported the suggestion elicited favorable comments plus some laughter. Laughter? I wonder if it was nervous laughter. The pope would reach tens of millions daily. Tens. Of. Millions. And that’s just for starters.

Good thing they invited women to this one, eh?

  1. I was just bemoaning, on Twitter, resistance toward new media among Catholics. The evangelical Protestants have figured out how to use these technologies to inform, educate, and inspire. A woman pipes up about this at a synod and there’s laughter?!?

I think it’s a fabulous idea. I have been reading the Holy Father’s writings and they are so accessible and clear. I especially like his emphasis on hope. He also has wonderful taste in music — Mozart is a favorite of mine, too.
