Name That Rover

Nancy Atkinson from Universe Today reports that the Mars Science Laboratory, the next generation of red planet rovers, is looking for a landing site and a name.

If you’re a kid, or you know one, you can surf to the MSL site and take a shot at naming the MSL.

Some suggestions to ponder: Lowell, Schiaparelli, or Hall, the astronomers who made discoveries or promoted Martian study.

Literary figures like Burroughs, or perhaps one of his characters, John Carter or Dejah Thoris.

Any ideas pop out at any readers?

No thoughts on the name, but here is an unfavorable comment on the project, and the allege out-of-control NASA spending: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/24/opinion/24stern.html?ref=opinion
