Ordinations and Disciplines

collarCNS picked up on the excommunication threat levelled at those involved in an upcoming SSPX priest/deacon ordination in Germany. Were these the same ordinations Fr Z discussed in March?

I noticed the changes in facilitating the expulsion of men from the presbyterate, too. These, however, center on the engagement of sex, not of ecclesiological disobedience.

Peter Kennedy receives his discipline, too, for leading Brisbane Catholics to “St Mary’s in Exile.” Fairly quick, considering how the laity and non-Catholics view the Church’s relative snail’s pace when dealing with sex offenders. Sure, I know matters of external unity and governance are traditionally perceived as more vital than grave moral lapses. But still, consider how it looks to ecclesiastical outsiders when sex crimes are excused and “good” Catholics punished.
