Best of Ames

My parish received a notification a few days ago:

I am pleased to announce that St. Thomas Aquinas Church has been selected for the 2009 Best of Ames Award in the Places Of Worship category by the US Commerce Association. In recognition of your achievement, a 2009 Best of Ames Award has been designed for display at your place of business. You may arrange to have your award sent directly to St. Thomas Aquinas Church by following the simple steps on the 2009 Best of Ames Award order form.

Each year, the US Commerce Association (USCA) identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.

Naturally, the pastor, staff, and parishioners are proud of this recognition. We do work hard to celebrate good liturgy here. I’m curious as to how this was determined, and what aspects were appealing to those who chose. If it gets a few unchurched people in the door on Sunday, it will be an even better development.
