It’s a good message. I wouldn’t phrase it quite the way that Carrie Krenson does.
I would urge prospective couples not to fear domestic adoptions. We know many couples who did adopt from overseas. I don’t criticize the option, but there are still over 100,000 children who are legally without parents waiting for adoption stateside.
International adoptions are great. They’re even better when additional American kids are adopted to add to the family.

Adoption is also a Catholic answer to abortion proponents. Every baby will find a warm welcome in a good home so an unwilling prospective mother has a better choice. Giving the baby to a childless couple can bring them the greatest joy that a child brings.
True, Peter.
But a caution.
Adoption is more than a solution for either abortion or childlessness. Adoption is a moral obligation for society at large, not only for childless couples, or as a response to unwanted babies. Adoption is also an expression of the Christian mission, not only for infants, but children and teens as well.
Of course you are right Todd.
Indeed adopting an older child with known problems is especially challenging and especially praiseworthy.
I suspect that many prefer international adoption of an infant to domestic adoption of an older child. This is no shame. Not all couples would be able to rise to the greater challenge.
