Cardinal George’s Letter

Even as other internet Catholics formed a fan club for him, readers here know that I’ve been a critic of the Chicago archbishop’s laxity on managing sex offenders. CNS reported on his statement to archdiocesan parishes regarding the latest reports of sex abuse.

I have yet to see any commentary on this letter at St Blog’s. I leave it to the readers here to offer what they see. I usually pay attention to the use of active and passive voice in experienced writers. When the cardinal offers that “Mistakes have been made here and elsewhere …” and then veers back into the situation outside the US, I can’t help but think he would have been better served to include more than a clause hinting at his own learning curve. Maybe a paragraph, at the least.

Thoughts?
