When the young miss was younger, Christmas Day couldn’t start quickly enough. Now that she’s entered the age of adolescence, I can report I have Christmas morning to get to church, do the usual stuff, and get home before gifts are exchanged.
I remember my old parish when it had three Christmas Day Masses: eight, ten, and noon. You can’t suppress a seven-year-old till 1PM. In those days, Christmas gifts were unwrapped at 6:30AM. After Midnight Mass, and the usual last-minute wrapping from Santa Daddy, it made for a long Christmas afternoon nap.
Today, little Gambit (in white) unwrapped the first gift, a catnip mouse. Ginny looks on:
Ellie got a nice dog bed from Santa, but she still prefers the couch, especially when my wife has left her blanket there:
Count is also fifteen years old and feeling a bit stiff these days. He had no problem taking over the dog bed and leaving the catnip for the younger siblings:
The young miss was still in deep slumber. But not for too long:
Don’t tell her I snapped these images and posted them online. Good thing her friends don’t surf to Catholic Sensibility, eh?
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a festive and blessed holiday.
