Gaudium et Spes, Vatican II’s Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World is the last of the Big Four conciliar documents to have a fully linked page of edited posts. The page can be accessed through the header, over to the right on the sidebar, and also here.
It wasn’t my practice way back in 2006 to offer any brief summary phrase in post titles. You just got “Gaudium et Spes 17” or some such. On the page, though, I broke down the document by parts, chapters, and sections. To guide you a bit, I did put a phrase on each link. Some were difficult to reduce to a single line. Some may quibble with my titles. Many of the articles of GeS were fairly long, and a number of them touched on a number of topics. The document is worth reading, certainly. I don’t find it as clear as most other conciliar work. But it does contain some important teachings–not only perspective on world issues of the 1960’s.
This work seems to be going faster than I expected. I will add more pages over the next month or so. Once that’s done, I’ll observe the golden anniversary of Vatican II with some special essays. Maybe we can lure Neil back to the fold. Or some other writers into it.
