Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

More Bollywood on home tv tonight. We picked up Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham from the library today. I didn’t know it was a 3.5 hour film. But it was good.

Was it as long as it needed to be? I suppose a filmmaker makes that call. I’m used to three hours plus for an epic like Lagaan, still my favorite Indian movie. Two-hundred and ten minutes for what is admittedly a soap opera theme, well …

The music was amazing, a mash-up of modern pop and traditional-sounding Indian music. Very memorable tunes. The choreography and cinematography, excellent.

The young miss lasted well into the film. Then she went to do the dishes about a half-hour before the end.
