Archbishop Visits

Arch-JackelsOur new archbishop visits the parish this weekend.

Our Sunday 7pm Mass is often a stumbling block for visiting priests or homilists. I think Archbishop Jackels was given the option of when to leave, but to his credit, committed to the full weekend.

He also informed pastors his willingness to be put on the “supply priest” list for weekend duty. In our largely rural archdiocese, this is very important for some priests to be able to have vacation time that includes the occasional weekend.

I haven’t met the man yet, but my first impressions from afar are positive. He seems to be willing to have the smell of sheep about him.

Liturgically, it will be interesting with the first week of a new schedule, and a few tweaks in Communion and Hospitality ministries we implement starting tonight.
