The bishops recount the Pentecost experience (GMD 70) as well as the discipleship of the Blessed Mother (71) and Peter (72) as they penned this brief section introducing the “Goals and Strategies” of Part II (70-74).
Paragraph 75 reveals the bishops did not want their document to remain an object of study and discussion, let alone sit on a shelf in a parish office or remain piled in a warehouse:
Our hope, upon issuing this plan and strategy, is that it will lead Catholics to action. (GMD 75)
The goals of GMD we’ve already viewed. Part II consists of some brief guidelines on how the bishops see this document being used (GMD 75-79) and placing the goals (45-60) in a larger context (80-88). A range of objectives is presented with each goal (89-127) before the bishops wrap up with some final thoughts (through GMD 141). We’re more than halfway through the document already. More to follow in the days ahead.
