Checking Up On Secular Christmas

I haven’t been in the car much this week, but I did hear five Christmas songs on the way to lunch with my wife the other day. The Lord was mentioned explicitly in two of them. So the Jesus percentage this week is .400–Ted Musial land.

Holiday movies are also getting to the relentless stage on cable tv. In this one, the character Brady mentioned “Advent,” which sure got my attention away from the computer. He spoke of his parents’ lodge being booked for “52 days,” through Christmas. Hallmark’s scriptwriters got the twelve days of Christmas right. But I think they were talking to the student who mentioned the “Lent candle” at Mass this past Sunday.
