I found this year’s Super Bowl match-up interesting. Since Seattle entered the NFL in 1976, they have played Denver 53 times, including one playoff game in 1983, according to this site. (Check page 38 for all-time scores.) The only more frequent match-up of Super Bowl teams happened after their Super Bowl contest. Anybody want to guess who played 65 times after their Super Bowl?
The players are all new from the days of the 5-team AFC West. I’m sure some fans remember. Maybe players remember Seattle’s 40-10 win in preseason. Or perhaps not.
According to NFL schedule-makers, these two teams are due to play each other in the 2014 regular season. Wonder if that will be the Thursday night opener.
