Culturewar, RIP?

From San Diego’s Bishop Robert McElroy:

As the people of God we must build bridges which reflect the teaching of the Church that we Catholics are
– not called to separate from culture,
– nor to be co-opted by our culture,
– nor to war against our culture,
but to embrace our culture with a powerful and transformative love rooted in the gospel.

I think this is spot on. And it has been so for the past several years. It is refreshing to read such in print.

That said, I hope that believers accustomed to battle will be able to find a degree of serenity amongst the shifting ground of church politics. We do need everybody on board with that power and that transformation.

  1. Thanks for this Todd, it was a bright spot in my day. Lots to think about in the homily, much to hope and pray for.
