The Aparecida bishops give their people fourteen proposals for ministries to the family. Here is the second-last of these:
m) Organize houses of welcome and specific accompaniment in order to approach with compassion and solidarity pregnant girls and adolescents, single mothers, and broken homes.
My observation is that two generations of abortion-on-demand in the US have left us unprepared for this part of the pro-life, pro-family witness. The Church is often seen as an agent more for political action than personal compassion. That’s not necessarily a bad choice, but it does have consequences in terms of solidarity with pregnant girls and single women.
