Aparecida 496: The Need For Artists

Pope John Paul II had the measure on one of the greatest needs for human culture–not just the world, but also the Church:

496. God is not only the highest Truth. He is also highest Goodness and supreme Beauty. Hence,

Society needs artists, just as it needs scientists, technicians, workers, professional people, witnesses of the faith, teachers, fathers and mothers, who ensure the growth of the person and the development of the community by means of that supreme art form which is “the art of education.”(John Paul II, Letter to Artists 4)

Remember to check the English translation of the 2007 document from the Aparecida Conference if you wish a deeper look at this document.
