OCM 23-24: The Connection Between Formation and Liturgy

This is sometimes difficult, especially in today’s mobile culture where clergy, family, and couples live and worship in widely separate communities. Still, it’s an ideal:

23. It is appropriate that the same Priest who prepares the engaged couple should, during the celebration of the Sacrament itself, give the homily, receive the spouses’ consent, and celebrate the Mass.

24. It also pertains to a Deacon, after receiving the faculty from the pastor or from the local Ordinary, to preside at the celebration of the Sacrament,(cf. canon law 1111) without omitting the Nuptial Blessing.
