Another young person, well-regarded by Pope John Paul II, is on the way to sainthood, as a US website promotes, and especially in his biography. A refreshing change from many young saints who landed in religious life or were on the way to ordination. Pier Giorgio was a layperson, and quite admirable for it:
60. Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, who died in 1925, “was a young man filled with a joy that swept everything along with it, a joy that also overcame many difficulties in his life”.[Saint John Paul II, Address to Young People in Turin (13 April 1980), 4: Insegnamenti 3, 1 (1980), 905] Pier Giorgio said that he wanted to return the love of Jesus that he received in Holy Communion by visiting and helping the poor.
