Christus Vivit 61: Blessed Marcel Callo

Another young layperson cited by Pope Francis died as a martyr at the hands of the Nazis.

61. Blessed Marcel Callo was a young French man who died in 1945. Marcel was imprisoned in a concentration camp in Austria, where he strengthened his fellow prisoners in faith amid harsh labors.

The Wiki-bio is here and worth examining. He was a boy scout. He was a lay man engaged to be married. I appreciated his response to an obvious question: “I do not feel called to the priesthood; I think I do more good by remaining in the world.” Remember to check Pope Francis’ Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation on this link at the Vatican site.

Any comments?
