Christus Vivit 126: Joy Overflows

Joy is a difficult attitude for modern culture. If one thinks of laughter, too often it is connected with mockery of some sort. Happy people are derided often enough–the “pollyannas.” And our exuberance is on display when our team wins, which means the other half of the supporters are in deep sorrow. Win-win is difficult, but Jesus suggests it can be done.

126. See Jesus as happy, overflowing with joy. Rejoice with him as with a friend who has triumphed. They killed him, the holy one, the just one, the innocent one, but he triumphed in the end. Evil does not have the last word. Nor will it have the last word in your life, for you have a friend who loves you and wants to triumph in you. Your Savior lives.
