OCM 70: Preparation of the Gifts

The impulse to be part of the Mass is as old as the celebration itself, Peter’s protests about foot-washing notwithstanding. One small but interesting rubric:

70. If appropriate, at the Preparation of the Gifts the bride and bridegroom may bring the bread and wine to the altar.

This direction permits not just a handoff at the edge of the sanctuary space to a deacon or priest, but an extended procession to the altar itself. Unless I’m missing something important.
