Fratelli Tutti 96: Transcending Limitations

Some conservatives shudder and yap on about the one-world-government or some variation thereof. The real aspiration has nothing much to do with second millennium constructs like nations or governments. By pass all that and just work together on human levels to make connections with people who, in the last centuries, we never would have noticed.

96. This need to transcend our own limitations also applies to different regions and countries. Indeed, “the ever-increasing number of interconnections and communications in today’s world makes us powerfully aware of the unity and common destiny of the nations. In the dynamics of history, and in the diversity of ethnic groups, societies and cultures, we see the seeds of a vocation to form a community composed of brothers and sisters who accept and care for one another”. [Message for the 2014 World Day of Peace (8 December 2013), 1: AAS 106 (2014), 22]
