Cardinal Burke + Ventilator

See the source imageAn American cardinal progresses from pandemic denial to ventilator care. Not a happy thing, even in taking notice of it.

I suppose we are at the stage where some good may come of it, aside from his hopeful recovery. Some strident Catholics aligned to or flirting with antivax nonsense might change their minds on this one.

On the other hand, the last president getting sick didn’t seem to do that much good. Anybody for another surge?

Make friends with the doctor, for he is essential to you; God has also established him in his profession. From God the doctor has wisdom, and from the king he receives sustenance. Knowledge makes the doctor distinguished, and gives access to those in authority. God makes the earth yield healing herbs which the prudent should not neglect (Sirach 38:1-4)

Here’s to prudence, peeps.

I pray for the Cardinal’s recovery. Apparently he wasn’t vaccinated. And is visibly obese. I hope his illness convinces people to be vaccinated. You mention President Trump. Well, Trump kept the degree of illness pretty hush hush. The public really doesn’t know how sick he was. But Cardinal Burke is on a ventilator. Media outlets predisposed to the Cardinal’s worldview are saying he is in pretty bad shape. So that might mean something.

When we pray for one, we can also pray for all similarly situated, and join our will to the that of Divine Providence.
