As we look into that ministry plan for adult formation in Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us paragraphs 124 through 153 look at key roles in the parish–people in positions that will make the effort fruitful. The bishops stress the whole parish must be on board (126) but we’ll also consider:
- The Pastor and Other Pastoral Leaders 127-134
- The Adult Faith Formation Leader 135-141, the “lead agent.” (125)
- The Adult Faith Formation Team 142-148, not just assistants, but “(collaborators) in planning and providing” (Ibid.)
- The Catechist 149-153
What’s to come?
(The bishops will) describe these roles, introduce objectives to be accomplished, and propose indicators to help in assessing attainment of the objectives. Objectives and indicators are based upon successful pastoral practice. They are meant as guides for enhancing and expanding effective adult faith formation, and they can be adapted to local needs and circumstances. (126)
