Dicasteries: The Great Reorganization

Pope John Paul II’s 1988 curia reform Pastor Bonus has been superceded, and a Vatican bureaucracy upended, at least on paper. The NCRep has a story on it here.

Naturally, most secular media I’ve seen are focused on the notion that lay people can now be bosses in the curia.

I’m curious and heartened that the dicastery for evangelization heads the list, not the DDF, once CDF. It’s new era for spreading and deepening the faith–this is the Catholic priority now.

Congregations are now for Protestant churches; all the Vatican departments are now officially dicasteries.

I guess I’ll have to get used to new acronyms, like DDWDS.
