Desiderio Desideravi 63: A Further Indication

Every believer shares two aspects of liturgy: the year and the end or hinge of the week. High Church Christians might be more in touch with the details, but nearly every believer is in touch with the basics, even the ones who do not worship.

63. For this I desire to leave you with yet a further indication to follow along our way. I invite you to rediscover the meaning of the liturgical year and of the Lord’s Day. Both of these were also left us by the Council. (Cf. Sacrosanctum Concilium 102-111)

    I would say that the sense of the Christian week has been greatly muddled in the last 50 or so year – and I believe that is not only a fruit of fading observance but also a contributing cause to it.
