Last week, the young miss and I journeyed across the Puget Sound for a day in Everett. The single highlight for me was a visit to the Nishiyama Japanese Garden adjacent to the community college. I found it a peaceful interlude in a day otherwise filled with navigating Interstate 5 or road work obstacles around various Washingtonian cities and towns coming and going.
I wished I had brought my Psalter. Then I noticed my daughter with eyes closed on a stone bench overlooking the water. She later said she was falling asleep.
Near the UW campus, there is a much larger such garden. I’ve been there a few times. It is wondrous too, but larger is not necessarily better.
