Spurs Block Swans Ascent

swansea city afcAfter today’s 3-2 setback to Tottenham, I don’t see Swansea flying into the top third of the Premier League this season. After scratching out a win versus Burnley on Saturday, I wasn’t sure what to make of their performance today. Spurs seemed really sharp building up their attack, and all three goals were pretty and pretty well-deserved. There was some excitement for the final five minutes. But that wasn’t enough time to get the draw–though it was close.

It will be interesting to watch the team the rest of the way. A top-six finish to get into Europe next year will require at least two teams above them to collapse. And the Swans will need to produce more goals.

  1. Copernicus says:

Difficult to see any of the current top six (or seven) losing their footing. You’d need three collapses above you, and realistically only Southampton look likely to oblige.
