By The November Stream

Some people like the peak colors of Fall. And these are certainly nice. I remember finding a leaf when I was a young boy that reminded me of an old map of Mars with red and yellow and green in streaks. I was disappointed those bright maple colors faded within a few days.

Today I found the subtlety of November worth a careful look. Low trees and bushes here and there still show green. Otherwise, it was rust, tan, and yellow-white from plants cutting their losses to prepare for the winter hibernation.
